Capturing Wakamatsu: A Poetry Workshop

Sunday, October 22nd 10am-12pm Taylor Graham, El Dorado County Poet Laureate, and award-winning Sacramento-area poet Katy Brown, will lead an exploration of farmhouse, barn and surroundings, and then ask participants to write a poem inspired by what they’ve experienced. Any who wish may share their poems with the group and ARC. Children 8+ welcome with adult supervision. Please call to sign up, and for carpool meeting location (Placerville). Bustling streets, honking horns, and ripping nightlife inspired George Gershwin’s Concerto in F. The American River College Orchestra welcomes internationally renowned pianist, Dr. Kristie Janczyk to tackle the spirited work on October 27th and 28th at 7:30 pm at the ARC Theater. Acquired by the ARC in 2010, Wakamatsu offers splendid historical touring, fun programs for learning, fertile ground for digging, loose boards for nailing, and fence posts for socializing. This historical farm is the site of the first Japanese settlers in America, resting place of the first Japanese woman immigrant buried in America, and birthplace of the first Japanese-American child.
