FILMFARE is starting its 17th season at the County main library, 345 Fair Lane, Placerville. Outdoor projector movies start at 8:45 on May 27 (vintage travelogs), June 10 (kid movies), July 1 (Tarzan), July 22 (Laurel & Hardy), and 7:45 on August 12, September 2, September 23, and October 14. Bring a lawn chair, blanket, etc. Rain or shine (inside screening if not outside). Snack bar. A donation is requested to benefit Friends of the Library (and keep us going!).…

Local photographer Caitlin Thompson will work with noted geologist George Wheeldon to explore the Deep Blue Lead, an ancient river channel that runs through El Dorado County, passing along the volcanic rocks near Lava Cap Winery, dipping under Smith Flat House, and following the metamorphic rocks and granite intrusions that contribute to the richness of the gold-bearing veins in the region.…
