Laureate Trail Holiday Event
December 15 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pmFree
El Dorado County’s intrepid Poet Laureate continues on the trail with a holiday stop at the Cameron Park Library. Taylor Graham, the El Dorado County Poet Laureate has embarked on a tour of the county stopping at Libraries in each district along the way. Graham has invited local poets from the communities of the five stops on the trail.
At the next stop Graham and her special guests will celebrate the holidays with the Friends of the Library at Cameron Park. Holiday refreshments will be served along with holiday-themed poetry. The evening will culminate with an open mic session for local poets to get up and share some of their work.
Special guest, Loch Henson, winner of the Bank of America Achievement Award for English, will be sharing some of her favorite pieces along with a holiday poem or two. Kaitlyn Stahl, Ponderosa High School’s Poetry Out Loud Champion will return after appearing with Graham at the Placerville event in October with some new holiday treats as well.
“I’m honored to be able to be a part of this great series of readings by our Poet Laureate!” said Stahl, “I can’t wait to share more poetry; Cameron Park here we come!”
Cameron Park Library is a great place to celebrate the holiday season, with their picturesque windows and inviting interior, our poets will feel cozy and warm as they share their poetry with the community.
“Poetry, like all stories, can delight, can inspire and can have the power to heal. It’s all in how we interpret it.” Said Nancy Owen-Hazard, Cameron Park Branch Manager, “What is so very special about this event is that we are not required to read the words and interpret but to solely listen. It is a rare opportunity to hear the poet’s voice and passion. We thank the El Dorado Arts Council for partnering with us and share this singular experience!”
The event series, Laureate Trail, will visit five regional libraries in El Dorado County over the course of 8 months. The Trail will culminate with a reading at the South Lake Tahoe Branch Library in June 2018.
The holiday event will be at the Cameron Park Library on Friday, December 15, at 5:30 pm. The event is free and family-friendly.
